Daudi,

This does work on Mac, however mp3 tag editor isn't available for mac so I use a little java program called fixtag ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/fixtag ) . As for consolidating your music. I would just follow this process but put everything on one drive (and obviously back it up regularlarly). If you need to buy a larger drive in order to fit everything on it, I think it would be totally worth your while.

oh. my god. thank you good sir. never have i considered using iTunes to manage serato. This looks amazing, if for nothing else other than the smart playlists.

Do you use the auto-bpm feature in serato now, or do you still use mixmeister?

and finally - what do you do when you get 'full albums'? Lets say, for example, a chemical brothers album. There may be some house, breaks, downtempo, and dance. I am assuming you would break it up into the folder format mentioned in this album. So do you keep a backup of the album in another folder (for consistence) or just keep a single copy spread out over the folders?

Although I just realized... with iTunes, if you wanted to actually listen to the album, you could just go to the library and 'sort by album'. Brilliant.

I couldn't have read your article any later. I just went through that problem iTunes organizing my shit and it just made a mess of it. And I had other folders like you for new tracks but never really cleaned. Well I had to go buy a TB ext. hard drive and when I transfered the files over the whole thing was a mess. So I decided to format and reinstall my Mac and do it your way. It'll take a while with my collection of songs but better late then never. They need to make a BPM analyzer for us Mac users. ANyways, thanks for the tips bro. Keep rockin' it out. Peace!

Also, Have you ever loaded a ton of music into SSL and sorted each artist out by crates? It takes AGES to load and shut down. I’ve started using this method and not only am I saving load and shut down time, I’ve also been able to find tracks a lot quicker.

Good question Greg. The benefit comes from being able to leverage dynamic playlists in iTunes. This lets you create playlists using custom rules...and all without duplicating any files on your harddrive. Dynamic playlists show up as crates in serato.

I have a question-

Once you created the genre folders and tagged the files with the genre, why wouldn't you just drag those folders into Serato? What benefit do we get doing it your way?
